Healing Against The Odds by Leslie Peake is a resource for just what the title says. I learned, as a surgeon caring for cancer patients, that there was survival behavior. Leslie's book identifies all the factors which helped her become what my wife called, an Exceptional Cancer Patient.

I learned that when people didn't die when they were supposed to they all had a story to tell about how and why it happened. Leslie's book outlines this step by step as she evolves and lets her body know she now chooses life and is creating a new self. With faith, hope and love amazing things can happen. When your body gets a live message your internal chemistry changes and self healing can be induced by the transformation, harmony and willingness to go through the labor pains of self-birthing your new self free of disease.

Read and learn from Leslie; she makes a great coach. Doctors talk about spontaneous remissions but it isn't spontaneous. It is about change and work so let Leslie guide and manage your self induced healing and performance too.

A SPECIAL NOTE FOR YOU FROM LESLIE

For many years I had wanted to write a book about parenting but when my life turned upside down with a stage IV cancer diagnosis, it became clear to me that if I was to write any book at all, it would be about how my life changed from having cancer.

In the early days of my treatments, I started a blog as a way to begin writing and share my experiences. What surprised me the most from doing this were the comments from my friends and readers who expressed how much my writing was helping them to deal with their own difficult life and health situations.

This really touched my heart and I thought if my experience of going through this incredibly tough time can help others then sharing my journey is completely worth it. These early blog posts and comments were the inspirational seeds that slowly germinated over the next five years into the book that you can read today.

Just as many books have helped give me hope, insights into new ways of healing, and a deeper understanding of the emotional complexity of the cancer journey, I sincerely hope that Healing Against the Odds is a book that will guide you through the incredible transformations that are possible when life offers you a second chance.

In my deepest gratitude,

Leslie has inspired me throughout my own journey of life. She is a holistic person in the way she thinks, behaves and relates to people. It is no wonder that she is sharing her life experience with cancer the way she is doing in her book. She questions, she seeks information, and she keeps on going until it makes sense. It is all about sharing her experience in the hope to inspire those around her to always keep on seeking what feels right for them. Every story offers learning, Leslie awards us hers.

Leslie’s book is a wonderful inspiration to me, my colleagues, and others. This book addresses not only people dealing with a health crisis. All of us are at risk to suffer from an unhealthy condition, therefore I think it’s for everyone. It contains poetry, wisdom, practical knowledge and inspiration. This book is a remedy!

Leslie’s book has inspired me, kept me going when I didn’t think I had anything left. Leslie is the definition of inspiration. Thank you for all the awareness you have given me through reading your book. This is a must read for anyone with an illness of any kind.
— Barbara Anne Platt - Rheumatoid arthritis survivor

This book reaches out as a voice of hope for healing not only the body, but also the soul. Peake pulls from a deep well of personal experience and professional expertise to speak to people diagnosed with cancer in a language that rings true to them. She speaks from her own soul to the reader’s soul. And yet, her work is so firmly grounded in the body. I most appreciated the “Soul Activation Exercises,” which offer concrete ways to look within and get real about why you want to live, how you want to live, what you need to let go of, and how to get started manifesting the life within you that still wants to be lived. A beautiful wisdom flows from every page.
— Katie Seggerson, Cancer survivor & thriver, Jungian Analyst in training

From the start of her arduous ordeal, I have observed with incredulity Leslie’s determination not only to fight for her life but to remain open to what her struggle had to offer her; this book recounts her journey with the same grace, strength, and focus she employed to get through it. Her newfound wisdom is an inspirational gift to the rest of us.
— Denise Hazen, Educational Coach
Leslie’s book is a must read for anyone who wants to discover the ingredients for a more authentic and healthy life. She invites the reader into her life and shares how her journey has taught her to live not only as a survivor of cancer but as a “thriver.” Leslie’s vulnerability shines through as she shares her innermost personal practice of embracing each day through the lens of hope and healing. As a counselor, mother, skin cancer thriver, and a wife to someone with cancer, I recommend this book to you as her work positively impacts my own life daily.
